I recall a video about how statistics can mislead. It was excellent.

The most mind blowing part of the video to me was when I realized that the water wasn’t cold enough to be painful

If these folks experienced chronic pain, they wouldn't be so into pain.

I must not fear. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Can we not get animated videos/GIFs for youtube posts? I turned autoplay off for a reason. I want to browse my home feed in peace. I'd hate to use "not interested" or "don't recommend channel" on Veritasium.

Half of them preferred the experiment where the water got slowly warmer over the last 30 seconds. So they contrast in relief?

After watching this I started to thing about zwifting. Especially hard sessions like 8’/2’ break (moderate-strong-max-very strong-strong). It’s weird but them seems to be much easier than 5x 6’/4’ strong. And the ones finished at the top of the mountain are in my memory kind of „fun, nice time”, but the real feeling at that moment was „im in hell, i want to cry, wheres mommy” etc

Do people really prefer MORE pain? In our newest video, we see if a group of volunteers would actively want to experience more pain instead of less. Check it out here https://youtu.be/v4r71kEdYME
And for an exclusive bonus video, we have Derek's turn doing the experiment over on our Patreon, free for everyone! www.patreon.com/veritasium
