Wintergatan

Hey all, and especially fellow creators, here is a message from Meetup @ Siegfrieds, an event held by the Siegfrieds Mechanical Music Museum in Rudesheim Am Rhein, Germany.

Last year Siegfrieds invited the Wintergatan Community to a Meetup and it was a really great time. This year, 9-11 August 2024, Siegfrieds is holding a similar meetup, except this year the meetup is not about Wintergatan but about other creators and communities. I am unable to attend this year myself, but as Siegfrieds is one of my favourite places in the world, i wanted to make sure that everybody got this information from them.

And especially, if you are a creator with any size community, large or small, the event is inviting you to participate as a creator, showcase your stuff and invite your own community there.
It is a social, new event. A lot of people met new friends last year and im sure many will meet new friends there this year again.

Here is the official info from Meetup @ Siegfrieds:

"Meetup @ Musikkabinett" - from Nerds for Nerds.
Dates: Aug 9 - Aug 11 2024

A trade fair for communities big and small, their fans, technology and music enthusiasts. Ever wanted to do a community meetup yourself, but never wanted to deal with the organization around it? Now is your chance.

There are a still spaces left for featured creators to meet up and show their project besides others like Musikkabinett itself with MM and MMX, as well as the GSM (Association for self playing instruments).
Besides featured creators you'll find projects, workshops and talks, big and small. If you want to hold a talk about your favorite topic or do a workshop of your own, you are very welcome to apply for that.
If you only have something small but still precious of yours to show, just bring it along and use one of the available Tables.

Channel Update:

Hey Everyone! I Hope summer is great for all of you, as I mentioned I have recently moved cities and decided to follow up the move with some summer activities. Sweden is sunny for once!
So I am taking a short break from uploading videos. I am looking forward to start uploading again in a short while, guesstimate a couple of weeks.

To all Wintergatan backers:

I wish everyone of you to feel that you are getting more from supporting Wintergatan than what you are giving. This is essential in our patron-artist relationship for me. So, if the pause in content during vacations etcetera changes that for you, I welcome you to stop or pause the support.
If you choose to stop/pause you are very welcome to return at a later stage when content is back.

I am very grateful for you all being here, backers and viewers. I find myself in a very interesting spot currently: I actually know how to finish marble machine 3, I know I can do it. But I also know the massive amount of skilled labor necessary to pull through. I am also curious to start sharing my time between the machine and music again. So, I’m taking a couple of weeks to assess the situation, doing some personal bests in the gym with Hannes and we’ll be back with creative content asap.

Good luck with everything you are doing 🌿

Hey all, I am moving this week and next so no video today or next week.

BTW, regarding the image, I have nothing against paying taxes, Sweden offers pretty awesome services in return for them. But something in this meme resonated bigtime, helpful perspective! 🌿

No video today but I can share a couple of nice tutorials for everyone wanting to learn more about color grading.
I wanted to improve the looks of the Wintergatan videos a bit so I went through a couple of tutorials and i guess you can tell which look was from last weeks video and which look was from after going through the tutorials. If you are into learning more about grading in Davinci Resolve i think you´ll find these resources useful:

Dunna Did It channel has several great tutorials aswell:

But lighting is more important for a good shot, so most of the difference in these shots stems from that i calibrated the lights and camera for correct white balance and instead of blasting the boring white wall with light i actually put some light on the subject instead haha. I painted the ugly MDF table to make the look a bit smoother, finished look in next video.

Good luck with your setups!

No video today, i’m in the middle of experimenting with form factor of the Machine using cardboard modelling. Instead of making a filler video today i’d like to show the entire process in one go once its done! Have a great week everyone💪🚀⭐️

No video today from me but ‪@Musikkabinett‬ made a great video showing the MMX playing live, and i found the most popular comments highly interesting. Seems like people are slowly understanding why i cancelled the MMX and why continuing the MMX would be falling for the Sunken Cost fallacy. Huge credit to the team who took the machine this far, i know what they had to pull off to get it to this state.

I went bouldering with ‪@Trainerds‬ and Hannes made a fun video about it! Hannes sister Lisa joined in as well and crushed it the first time she Tried it. Bouldering is so much fun, problemsolving and excercising in one package. Check it out :)
