I started this project on June 25th. After two months of creative wrestling, it's time to show you how you should never mill your own lumber.

I don't know if it's my best video (I actually think it might be, but I'll let you decide), but it is certainly the most I have ever sweated on a project. It. Was. Hot.

I also tried so many things I had never done before and caught on 4K how terrible of a woodworker I actually am.

I almost lost the project twice and thought it was a total waste of time. 🐜 🐜 🐜

I hate it but it’s true: CREATIVITY IS INEFFICIENT.

I started this video in mid June. The build is done and I’m two weeks into the edit so far. I’m hoping to get really close to the end today.

Here’s a peak at what a typical timeline looks like for a video for me.

I have over 600 different video files. 🤦‍♂️

I’m trying a few new things in this one and am trying to grow as a story teller.

I’m slowing my pace down just a smidge and letting things breathe a little more with purposeful margin and silence.

I know that a faster pace means people don’t get bored, but I hate editing (and watching) videos like that.

Everything is an experiment.

👋 we got a video coming soon! It might be the best one so far.

I’ve been working on this video and project since the 3rd week of June, and yet the build has been 5 years in the making.

Essentially I cut down a tree and milled my own lumber without knowing what to do.

Spoiler alert: I made all the big milling mistakes on accident. 🐜 🐜 🐜

Bonus points if you can identify both wood species.
