Sand & Coffee Rocks

Hi everyone, I'm Maddie. I like to go to the beach and look for seashells. It's so exciting to walk along the sand and find these beautiful treasures hidden between the coffee rocks. Join me to see what interesting things I'll find next in Queensland, Australia.

Sand & Coffee Rocks

G'day everyone! I'm about to head back home after spending the weekend in a place called Yeppoon! I visited a few of the beaches (one was much better than the other!!) and got to see their annual shell show. I'm a bit slow with reply to comments right now, but you'll be sure to hear from me next week. Safe safe out there 🏖️

Sand & Coffee Rocks

G'day everyone, I hope you've all had a wonderful Easter (if you celebrated it this March) or a lovely weekend in general. I just wanted to mention that this weekday's video will be a little later than usual; I release them on Tuesdays, but due to weeks of constant rain and now the long weekend/holidays here, the next video will be pushed back to Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. I did have a few other video ideas that I could've done, but I didn't feel ready to share them yet.

But, if you're absolutely in need of some shell-related content to fill in the time until then, I have made this unlisted 'unboxing' video of my recent shell purchases available here for you to see (previously only uploaded on my Facebook page): https://youtu.be/HOlu94SbfZM Enjoy, and I'm sorry for the delay in bringing you my next shelling adventure.

Sand & Coffee Rocks

No video this weekend, sorry everyone 🥲 I must admit, the big one at Hervey Bay a few days ago really took a lot out of me due to its quick turn around between filming, editing, and releasing. Is that my fault for not managing my time better? Perhaps, but I am also at the whims of the tides and the weather here, so sometimes my window to go the beach while still releasing two videos per week is a little tricky (though it has been particularly rough since the start of the year due to storms, heatwaves, and daytime high tides as well). Add onto that to various small tasks that I’ve let pile up at home and social media, and I just need a breather this weekend. I’ll see you all on Tuesday/Wednesday 👋🏻 Thank you for sticking with me. PS these pictures are from a Hervey Bay trip last year; a little behind the scene look at setting up a shell display (it looks much smaller in real life, right?!!)

Sand & Coffee Rocks

Well everyone, there won't be a Part 2 of our 2023 shelling countdown for at least another day; a thunderstorm ripped through earlier and I've been without power for almost 8 hours... I can't finish and upload a video without my computer! I knew I should've done it yesterday instead of that Short shell cleaning video of the Giant Hairy Triton 😆 go check it out if you haven't seen it already!

Also, this picture with the candles is just me being dramatic? Maybe it's just a reminder to be grateful for having as much electricity as we usually do. Thanks for reading, and stay safe out there as we head into 2024 🐚

Sand & Coffee Rocks

G’day everyone! I want to share an update for my video schedule plans for the rest of the year. I have prepared an explanation below, but if you’ve got places to be, here is the short of it: I will be reducing my schedule from 3 videos per week down to 2 videos per week until the new year.

The festive season is fast approaching, and I plan to take a break from the beach and shelling during that time. Being here in Australia, the weather is heating up now as we move closer to summer… and the summer school holidays… and Christmas. Yes, we have a hot Christmas here~ I live in a very popular beach/tourist region, and going out to the beach during this time is more difficult than ever; be it on the roads, finding a car park, or finding shells on the heavily picked-over beaches.

It’s been a crazy year of doing three videos a week regardless of the time, tides, and weather. While these videos are fun and not too hard to create, they do take up a big part of my life: essentially full-time hours. As a result, I had always planned to take a 3-4 week break starting early-mid December 2023, but to balance this so that you can still watch new shelling videos during this time, I am going to reduce the amount of videos I release during November and December. This is so that I can create a backlog while releasing at a slower rate; thus allowing me the much-needed break from the overcrowded beaches and roads, and still have something prepared for you; just not quite as often.

As it stands now, I have basically no backlog of videos due to my high output. Some videos are even filmed, edited, and uploaded in just one day (a very big day), but usually it’s over two days as I try to maintain a strict self-imposed upload schedule. Don’t worry, I make sure to have plenty of time for myself, too.

My current upload schedule is Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday (times vary depending on where you live in the world). My new schedule will be Tuesday and Saturday, starting this from this point on. No video this Friday, it will be pushed back to Saturday. I know this is very late notice, but hopefully it’s better than no notice at all.

After the new year starts, I will review my analytics to see if two videos per week is actually better than three (I do wonder if I overwhelm people with too many videos each week), but if three is better, I will make an announcement as I change back to the old three-per-week schedule shortly after the new year starts.

Rest assured that I am not stopping my shelling adventures, but I really do need time to prepare and enjoy Christmas, have a relaxing break, and also sort out many of my home projects that I have been putting off for far, far too long (looks over at my shell cabinet in disarray).

Finally, I want to thank everyone for all of your amazing support and patience on this past year. I absolutely love going to the beach to find these beautiful seashells, and I honestly couldn’t think of doing it without filming it all to share with you guys. I cannot believe this is my second Christmas as a sheller and content creator; nearly 200 long form videos, over 1800 subscribers, and so, so much joy at having each and every one of you in my life.

Thank you so much for joining me on these adventures. Have a safe and happy holiday season!

Well, it looks like I've missed my usual upload time, but don't worry everyone, this video has decided it will be ready in about 8 hours from now. I hope you look forward to it!

Sand & Coffee Rocks

Today, the 13th of June 2023, is actually the one year anniversary of my shelling journey! Shelliversary! This day last year was the first time I’s ever travelled to Point Cartwright Beach... and my entire passion for shelling was kicked off when I found an amazing, gem quality, Arabian Cowrie. Today, one year later, I am gifted with three more from this same beach. Wow. This is my happy place, and I wouldn’t be here three times a week without all of your support, kind thoughts, and lovely comments. Thank you so much, everyone, you give me that extra push forward to keep finding these beautiful treasures from nature 🐚 Here’s to another year of Sand & Coffee Rocks 💖! This episode will be out on Friday, but I couldn’t stop myself from sharing a big “thank you” with you all today. Seriously, you all have no idea what you mean to me.

Sand & Coffee Rocks

Coming up: seashell giveaway and channel name change suggestions! G'day everyone 👋🏻 gosh, I can't believe how many of you there are now; almost 1000 🤯!!! When I hit that magic number, I will make an announcement video with many thank yous, and also information about a shell giveaway to one lucky person somewhere in the world 🌎. But which shells, you say? Keep reading to find out...

My question for everyone now: which types of shells do you want in the giveaway? Let me know which ones you'd most like to receive if you're the lucky winner!! Also, it might be a good time to change my YouTube channel name, but I have no good ideas 😅, so I'm asking any suggestions! Do you have the perfect name for me? Let me know if you do! Or should I keep Sand & Coffee Rocks? This is your chance to be the ultimate influencer for my 1000 subscriber milestone!! Thanks everyone 🥰

Edit to add this: For name change suggestions - if you see one you like, hit that like button on it so I can easily see the most favorited ones! For the shell giveaway: I could also slip in a few shells that I didn't personally find, like a lovely tiger cowrie or mole cowrie from a local beach store! Let me know!
